The unseen world, and particularly, the natural world, has many layers to its presence.
Everything has an energy to it, a vibration of life. This includes all those beings that Rene Descartes attempted to render completely devoid of life - the things like the rocks, soils, waters, minerals and other “resources.”
One statement, “I think therefore I am,” set humanity up as the ultimate in hierarchical design, with the mind as the compass of all worship.
With that simplistic notion, it attempted to wipe away the wisdom of animistic cultures, those who found their wisdom through the heart, through nature, through the cosmic listening and divine sacred space which is accessed through Oneness - a respect for all life, intentionally non hierarchical.
Not only was this simplistic statement hierarchical in terms of humanity over everything - it also was hierarchical within the internal self - a division and honoring of mind over heart and mind over body.
If we were to judge the progress of the mind as the compass over the past few hundred years, it could be somewhat easy to see that this compass is not in calibration with the sanctity of life. There is more needed to be seen within the story.
When we return to nature, when we find ourselves called to the land, to the water, to the trees, to the grass, it is the sacred in which we seek. The sacred is found in the awe-striking nature of the unseen, the energy of creation. It cannot be found in logic, in the mind. It is in the magic.
Our society and the productivity which is required for continual exponential growth cannot afford the magic and awe of the unseen.
When people recognize their own divine power, the innate value, they no longer are held hostage to the constructs of classical fear or control. They are free.
As we become friends with the trees, honor the sacred waters and live in awe of the butterflies, life is ever-abundant, continually servicing us with energies, experiences and avenues for meaning-making.
As I understand it, everything is alive.
The earth, the soil, the plants, the animals, the sacred waters, the trees, the mycelium below ground, the millions of microbes in the soil, the bugs, the flowers, the frogs the grasses - and these are the seen aspects of the experience. The unseen aspects are the keepers of these places, the guardians of the grounds, the lakes, the rivers, the waterfalls - the most ancient energies of all; those in which have dutifully been birthed with mother earth and share in the sacred responsibility to protect her waters, her children, her LIFE.
